What is collagen?
Collagen is the glue that keeps our body together and provides the cushioning between our joints. It is the most abundant protein in the body and is found in the bones, muscle, skin and tendons.
As we get older, our body produces less collagen, the structural integrity of the skin declines, wrinkles form and joint cartilage weaken. Ingesting collagen can help increase density in bones weakened with age, improve joint, back and knee pain, as well as support hair, skin, nails and muscle health.
The term 'hydrolysed' means that the collagen is broken down into amino acids that are more easily digested and absorbed by the body. This is what makes it perfect for adding to liquids.
Is the collagen Halaal?
Our Collagen is certified locally in South Africa by NIHT as well as by a reputable international institution accredited by the World Halal Food Council and the Majelis Ulama of Indonesia.
Are these products safe for children?
Please note that we are not medical practitioners and cannot dispense medical advice. Whilst collagen is considered harmless, healthy children produce enough collagen naturally, and we do not recommend supplementation unless warranted. We recommend you consult your medical practitioner before giving to children.
Are these products safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?
Our Bovine Collagen (Quick Dissolving, Creamy and Pure variants) is considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Marine Collagen is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to possible fish allergies.
As with any supplements, it is important to consult with your healthcare practitioner if you are pregnant, have a chronic health condition or are under medical supervision.
Can children use gummies?
Yes, children who are already consuming solids can use the gummies. Note that gummies contain a small amount of raw honey, which may be contraindicated in children younger than 1 year.
Stored frozen for up to 6 months. Once defrosted, it should be consumed immediately or refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
How do I use and store the gummies?
The gummies contain no preservatives or stabilisers and therefore must be stored frozen (for up to 3 months). When you want to use it, defrost it for a few minutes, once de-frosted it can be eaten as is or added directly into hot water to enjoy as a tea (note it can be added frozen into hot water as well). Defrosted Gummies must be used immediately or stored in the fridge and consumed within 24 hours of defrosting.
Where are you based and where do you deliver?
We are based in Cape Town. Our Pomegranate Wellness store is located at 269 Imam Haron Road, Claremont. No preorders are required when purchasing at our store. When ordering online, you have the option of in-store pickup or national delivery. For certain products e.g. the frozen gummies, chicken broth and instant brands products, delivery is available within Cape Town only, excluding Helderberg & Boland. Deliveries within Cape Town take place every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding public holidays) while national courier orders are dispatched daily (Mon-Fri).

Can men use collagen?
Yes, collagen is beneficial for both men and women.
Is collagen contra-indicated in any illness/with any medication?
Collagen is not recommended for those with any nephrology-related (kidney-related) condition, because of its protein content. Please note that we are not medical practitioners and cannot dispense medical advice. As with any wellness or supplement product, — if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under medical supervision, on chronic medication, or have a diagnosed health condition, it’s important to consult your healthcare practitioner before adding any new supplements.
How do you place an order on your website?
A: Find the products that you would like to order by browsing categories or brands using the navigation menu. You can also search for certain brands or products by using the Search Bar at the top of the webpage. Or you can click on the “Shop Now” button, which will take you to our Shop page.
When you find your desired product, add it to your Cart by clicking the “ADD TO CART’' button.
When you have chosen all the products that you would like to buy, click on the “Terms and conditions” check box after you have read and understood it, then click on the “CHECKOUT” button.
Enter your contact email and select between the shipping or pick up options.
If you select pick up, you will be prompted to make payment either via Yoco or EFT. Complete your billing address details.
If you select delivery, please complete your delivery details. When selecting the shipping method, please scroll down the list of delivery zone options and select the one that matches your area (or closest proximity).
You will then be prompted to make payment either via Yoco or EFT. Complete your billing address details and select “PAY NOW”.
How long does delivery take?
Cape Town deliveries take place every Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 5pm, unless otherwise stated.
All outlying Cape Town orders and national areas are dispatched within 2 business days after receiving payment. If you pay via EFT or bank deposit, your order will only be dispatched within 1 business day of your payment clearing.
Courier delivery takes 3 – 5 working days depending on the order's destination and courier capacity. There are no deliveries on weekends or public holidays. With remote areas, courier deliveries can take up to 7 working days. Unforeseen circumstances like adverse weather, closed roads, strikes and peak season like Christmas and Black Friday etc. could prolong the delivery time. However, if your delivery has not been delivered after the estimated times shown above, please contact us with your order number so that we can follow up on the matter.
All orders outside of Cape Town are dispatched via courier within 1 business day after payment reflects.
